I know that the content is nearing the end of its natural life, but it was still good to be able to go into Firelands last night with the guild and steamroll bosses 1-5 in two hours, including my first view of, and a clean one-shot of Domo.
I have been playing various alts much more lately due to the end of patch doldrums, and haven't done any raiding for a couple of weeks due to various RL commitments. In fact, I haven't done anything of substance healing related on the pally for over two weeks.
Yet, I jump into the raid and off I go, slipping comfortably into the groove of healing, with the known abilities, skills, cooldowns and key combinations. Many people have spoken about muscle memory, but to be able to do that, and still perform well in current tier content, it made me think long and hard about changing mains once Mists arrives.
I could take a week off work, I could play a Monk till my eyes bleed, and I could powerlevel a healer through LFD. I could be raid ready before many of the other guildies, and yet, would I be able to drop into a raid and rely on that muscle memory to do what needed to be done? A quick look at the combined stats for Saunder and Saundin shows the following: 900+ 5 man dungeons entered, 200+ 10 player raids entered, 30+ 25 player raids entered. That is a lot of experience, and a lot of knowledge of a class. Augment that with countless blog and forum reading, and I wonder just how likely success would be if I were to change main.
Oh, sure, it could be done, but it is going to be a LOT of work, a truly obscene amount of effort. Am I willing to put that in? I guess time will tell. One thing is for sure, if that was my plan, then dual speccing would not be my friend, regardless of queue times. It would have to be healing, healing and more healing, to get as much practice as possible, to be useful once again as a guild healer.
